DINNER SETS

Each piece is painted by hand, one by one, so even when a design repeats, no two plates are ever the same. Like the people who sit at the table, each plate is its own; what makes a set truly special is the imperfect touch of the hand. Dinner tables are laid, filled, cleared and laid again, until they become part of the memory of the places they belong to. It is for those tables that these sets are made.

My pieces for the table can gather the threads that run through all my work: the sirens of Seljuk tiles, the hatayi blossoms of Iznik, the slender Istanbul Tulip, and the other themes you can find under Ceramic Collections.

In Türkiye, it is tradition to offer small keepsakes to wedding guests. For my daughter and her husband, I created these colorful apples, inspired by the animal motifs of Kubadabad Palace tiles.

The Seljuk eagles, symbols of strength and power, found their place upon the apples, carrying wishes of love and resilience.
